ALL ABOUT THE DANCE FILM - TOUT SUR LE FILM DE DANSE : Urwintwari


URWINTWARI Film

Is a dance piece aiming at paying tribute to rwandan heroes and keeping memory of those peace heroes to inpire present and future generation.

It was created basing on "contemporary dance" (still a young form of expression in Rwanda) and african traditional dances.
The music and poetry is original by Totto except the song « Inkotanyi cyane» inspired from famous Rujindiri. This piece was presented for the 1st time on February 1st, 2009 (National heroes day)at National Stadium Amahoro in front of over 20,000 people!

It has three main parts following:
I/ AMIBUKIRO
(Memory, the heroes march)
II/
AGAKAMBYE (The greatest problem is handled by united great men, the poem «Those heroes»
III/
IKIMIHIGO (Country of high achievements/heroic performances:Inkotanyi cyane, The «Thanks» or «The sky where heroes live».

All will be awarded certificates for completing successfully this year dance training).

The author of this film, Niwenshuti T., was awarded on Sept, 18th, the RECTOR EXCELLENCE AWARD 2009 as BEST INNOVATOR! In 2007 he received another award as BEST PROMOTOR OF ART AND CULTURE!

This film will be used to collect money to publish his book/research tempting to contribute in solving the increasing problem of trauma among children living in a post genocide environment, and finalize a project for improving, implementing and follow up the research recommendations among them an art therapy center.
